Marcellus Gas and Road Impacts:

Pennsylvania's Marcellus gas rush is having a large impact on the State's rural road network. The Center is working on several fronts to address the impacts of the roads, both public and private, that serve this new drilling industry.

One-Day Oil and Gas Road Maintenance Training:

The Center has developed an intensive one-day training directed towards the heavy haulers in the oil and gas industry in PA. The course, worth 1.3 CEU credits, has been widely praised by attendees. Sample Road Use Maintenance Agreement: (RUMA): A RUMA is an agreement between a township and a gas company concerning the gas companies use of public roads. The file here can be used as a starting point to develop your own RUMA.

Center's Marcellus Call with Conservation Districts:

Since mid-2010, the Center has been holding regular conference calls with Conservation Districts about Marcellus issues related to the Dirt and Gravel Road Program. Concerns include the effect of hauling on completed Dirt and Gravel Projects, strategies for running the Program in Marcellus areas, and maintaining Municipal interest and involvement.
