Workgroups:
The Program and Center jointly maintain several advisory groups to help steer various aspects of the Dirt and Gravel Road Program. The groups are made up of a mixture of District, Program, Center, and DEP staff. The groups are advisory only, and any recommended actions affecting the Program must be acted upon by the State Conservation Commission.
Education and Outreach
The two main topics falling under the Education / Outreach workgroup are the ESM training and the Annual Maintenance Workshop. The Education / Outreach workgroup is instrumental in providing feedback on updates to the ESM training and in creating policies outlining training requirements for the Program. The group also meets several time a year to make and review plan's for the Center's Annual Maintenance Workshops.
Policy and Planning
The Policy and Planning workgroup meets on an as-needed basis when any issue arises that may require a change in Program Policy. Some of the group's recent issues include changes to the Program's allocation Formula, the DGRoads GIS update, and the QAQC process. This group also contains member of the Program's "Verified Worksites Group" that was the sole advisory group over the Program's first seven years.
Product and Process
The Product and Process workgroup meets on an as-needed basis to address issues relating to practices and products used on sites within the Dirt and Gravel Road Program. Some of the group's recent issues include changes to the Driving Surface Aggregate Specification and an overhaul of the product approval process that allow products such as dust suppressants to be used within the Program.
