The Center for Dirt and Gravel Road Studies has recently completed a project with the US Forest Service and the US Environmental Protection Agency to develop a "Field Guide for Environmentally Sensitive Maintenance of Unpaved Roads." This Field Guide is largely based on the practices and procedures implemented by the Center over the past 15 years through Pennsylvania's Dirt and Gravel Road Maintenance Program. The Forest Service will be distributing these Field Guides to National Forests and LTAPs throughout the Country.
The Center will be providing these books to attendees of our 2 Day "ESM training" in the future. Because we have a limited number of printed copies, we encourage you to contact the Forest Service if you would like additional Field Guides.
The ESM Field Guide can be downloaded and printed free of charge at the Forest Service website below. If you wish to order additional hard copies, contact the USFS Technology and Development Center in San Dimas, California at (909) 599-1267 x239.
